The Ramayana represented by this portfolio must have-been commissioned by Raja Sen Shamser Surma Sen or his son . It is no coincidence that the Raja dressed in a yellow jama arriving on horseback attended by a huqqa bearer bears a strong likeness to contemporary portraits of Shamser Sen.
